Further notes on applications The procedure is deliberately very simple. You are normally
only required to send 8 slides (diapositives) and your biography (CV or
curriculum vitae). If you work in other media you may send a VHS tape in PAL or NTSC format, cued to a 10 minute section that you wish the panel to view. You may send a DVD in European or American format if you prefer. DO NOT send Beta or MiniDV tapes. We do not accept images via email or on the internet. We are not equipped to view these at the selection panel sessions. We prefer that you do not send images on CD or DVD. If you work in sound we can play CDs or standard cassette tapes or minidisks. If you wish to send an “autorun” CD or DVD that requires to be loaded into a computer to give a slide show, or other automatic presentation of your work, please ensure that it will work with a standard IBM compatible computer without ANY operator assistance. We do not have the technical ability to sort out problems with this type of material and you run the risk of your work not being seen if you use this medium. Further information such as catalogues, other printed material or references may be sent but it is not essential. REMEMBER that if you send extra material you must ensure that your return packaging is adequate and, if applying from abroad, that you have sent sufficient value in International Mail Coupons to allow us to post it back to you. International Mail Coupons (Coupon-Réponse International) are available in the 190 countries which are members of the Universal Postal Union. This includes the United States and Canada. FedEx or other international couriers will only be used to return your materials if you enclose a completed, valid airwaybill shipping form with your own account number on it. Please also note that any customs declaration attached to your application must clearly state that the contents are application documents and are OF NO COMMERCIAL VALUE. We will not accept applications on which we are asked to pay customs duties. We cannot advise on visa requirements and you should enquire in your own country about visas for the UK. See also www.ukvisas.gov.uk You may be able to enter the UK on an artist’s visa, giving a minimum 12 month stay, if you can show that you can support yourself from your work. Go to the “Do I Need A Visa?” link and check requirements for “Permit Free Employment, Other”. This link may take you there
